Senior Architectural Technologist – Kingston 

This role is for the RAW Kingston office, serving the market east of Toronto (Cobourg to Ottawa). 

Qualifications include: 

  • High level proficiency in construction documentation for medium to large sized residential and commercial projects 
  • Extensive knowledge of Part 3 and Part 9 of the OBC 
  • Knowledge of, and ability to apply Zoning Bylaws 
  • Experience in working drawings in both Revit and AutoCAD 
  • Completion of a Diploma or Degree Program from a recognized institution 
  • Strive for high level of detail and resolution in problem solving 
  • Self-starter capable of working in small groups or independently in a fast-paced environment 
  • Able to manage various stages of a project with little supervision 

Duties: 

  • Prepare architectural working drawings based on early design and approvals drawings 
  • Perform contract administration and site visits 
  • Communicate clearly with consultants and contractors to resolve issues quickly 
  • Oversee drawing coordination with consultants through working drawing phase 
  • Communicate with consultants and contractors to resolve issues on site quickly 
  • Analyze and apply building codes and other regulations that apply to the project 
  • Ability to drive to required site visits

  • Excellent Communication skills 
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment 
  • Knowledge of Part 3 and Part 9 of the OBC 
  • Strong capability and passion for the design and construction process 
  • Self-starter capable of working in small groups or independently in a fast-paced environment 
  • Outstanding graphic design talent 
  • Must have software skills in: AutoCAD, Sketchup, Revit (full working experience) 
  • Desired software skills in: Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe CS5 
  • Technical knowledge of working drawing preparation  

Duties: 

  • Lead and develop projects from early concept through design to completion  
  • Ability to create initial design concepts 
  • Prepare drawings, specifications, and construction documents    
  • Consult with clients to determine their requirements 
  • Assist in developing presentations and promotional material  
  • 3D Modelling and Rendering (Prepare site models and massing studies in SketchUp or Revit) 
  • Organize and manage permit documents 
  • Prepare material for client and city submissions 
  • Identify and solve technical design issues  
  • Coordinate with Clients, Contractors, and Subcontractors         
  • Working drawing preparation and envelope detailing background 
  • Resolve complex design issues with innovative and practical solutions

  • B.Arch or M.Arch and OAA Licensed (preferred) 
  • Excellent Communication skills

  • Knowledge of Part 3 and Part 9 of the OBC 
  • Strong capability and passion for the design and construction process  
  • Self-starter capable of working in small groups or independently in a fast-paced environment
